Hi there, welcome to my portfolio!
My name is Mark and I love solving challenging problems to create value through innovative technology. See below for my past projects and research!

/Robotics Projects

I found a love for robotics through hands-on projects, such as a Tomb Raider Robot or a Medical Package Retrieval Rover, where I worked on mechanical modelling, electrical design, and microcontroller programming

Medical Package Delivery Rover

UBC Unmanned Aircraft Systems

An RC rover controlled beyond visual line-of-sight to navigate a remote clinic, pick up the right medical package, deliver to the drone, and drop off at a remote home

/Research

I have accumulated 3 years of research experience. From nanomaterials to quantum computing, I find joy in solving the toughest problems at the cutting-edge of technology

qsp_background.jpg

Quantum Computing Hardware

I am leading the design, fabrication, and demonstration of UBC's first on-chip quantum entanglement circuit using photonic qubits

Quantum Computing Software

I focused on the benchmarking of quantum machine learning algorithms and the encoding

of classical data into quantum routines

Nanomaterials

I led the research and development of a new solution for the treatment of dye water in the textile industry using nanomaterials. The project went from the lab to winning a major tech-startup competition in Vietnam

/CADs & PCBs

I like to mech-CAD and elec-CAD :D

CAD Gallery

I enjoy CAD-ing for fun from time to time. Shaping a 2D drawing into form is very satisfying for me! This also helps me practice modeling faster in my actual design works

/Leadership

I love working with my teams to establish mission-led organizations from the ground up and overcoming obstacles to create value for others

UBC Quantum Club

I co-founded the UBC Quantum Club in 2021.

We work with research institutes, organizations, and companies to provide quantum computing education and research opportunities to undergraduate students at UBC, SFU, and UVic

Others:

  • Executive Board - Incline Education (Non-profit providing mentorship and resources to BC high school students transitioning to universities)

  • Founder and Leader - Project Tenshi (Community project working with orphanage shelters in Vietnam to provide young students with digital soft skills)

  • Education Resources Developer - Astittva (Worked on-site with an education NGO in Ahmedabad, India to develop 21st-century soft skill modules for elementary students at the city outskirt)
